Week of October 29:

Hello middle school students and families:

  • Thank you to those students who participated in the Math Games event at Seattle Prep last weekend. Our students did quite well, had a little fun, and engaged in positive teamwork.
  • If you’re interested in participating in the math contest at BBHS next weekend, I need to know by Tuesday, October 30.
  • Zero period algebra I students have a test on Wednesday, October 31, and no class on Thursday, November 1.
  • Thursday, November 1 is a dress uniform day for all students.

Have a great week,

Sven Tice

Week of October 15:

Hello middle school students and families:

  • 6th graders, you have a test on Tuesday, October 16. The test will cover everything we’ve done so far this year in science: the nature of science, science practices, and measurement.
  • 7th graders have begun to learn about Newtonian physics. Much of this unit involves simple mathematical models. If you struggle with math, this may be a challenge for you. If you start to struggle, please do not hesitate to contact me.
  • 8th graders begin work on the structure of matter this week.
  • Both 7th and 8th graders will begin working on their Inquiry Projects this week.
  • Progress reports go home on Thursday. Parents, please read them, sign them and return them to school via your child by Monday, October 22.

Have a nice week,

Sven Tice

Week of October 8:

Hello middle school students and families:

  • There are some unit exams coming up in grades 6-8 during the next two weeks: the 7th graders on Tuesday, October 9, the 8th graders on Thursday October 11, and the 6th graders on Tuesday, October 16. Hopefully, everyone has already begun to prepare for these exams.
  • The Jog a Thon was very successful this year; thank you to all who contributed.
  • Parent-teacher conferences are coming up soon; look for an email that contains a link to sign up. I need to meet with everyone in my home room, but, given the fact that I have 162 students, if your child is not in my home room, please sign up for a conference with me only if you have concerns. (Yes, the previous sentence is grammatically correct…)
  • Parents, please make a point of checking PowerSchool at least once a week.  Most students are in good shape, but some are having trouble submitting everything on time…

Have a great week,

Sven Tice
